This blog is devoted to the band The Really Good Pot Roast.
Rob Rubin - Corprolalia
I love this fucking track.
Rob wrote this song in February during FAWM. The narrator of the song is afflicted with this real illness, which is “involuntary swearing or the involuntary utterance of obscene words or socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks”, per wikipedia.
If you’ve met Rob, you would know that this song is both a personal anthem and unabashed confessional.
Rob’s writing often has a sharp humor to it that draws you in, and a music structure that’s often born of blues rock and jam bands, but finds it’s way across styles and genres. Corprolalia is an minimal acoustic track in 3/4 time with a chorus that you’ll be singing along with almost immediately.
Also, it’s just a great fucking song.
Now That You’re Here, coming August 10th.
Rob’s Note: I didn’t know this song was in 3/4 until I read this post, started singing the song to myself and said, “Son of a bitch! It really is!”
Rob and I have been playing music together for over a decade on and off, and have been writing and recording together somewhat earnestly over the last 3 or so years. As I previously mentioned, I’ve had my solo daliances, but always enjoy writing with Rob. Rob and I have different approaches to music, which tends to lead to some awesome collaborations. But I’ve always wanted to hear what Rob might do as a solo project.
Thanks to FAWM 2012, Rob has written some awesome new material for a debut solo EP. The as-yet-untitled release will blend genre’s of influence, from blues to electronica to hard rock, and a few points between.
I’m a big fan of Rob’s music, and I’m really looking forward to his first solo release.
Rob’s solo EP will be released sometime this summer. We’ll have more updates and music samples as production continues.
In the meantime, we have more things in the near future…
More to come!
